The Bridgewater Shopping Centre comprises a large regional shopping complex, apartments, offices and an adjoining six screen cinema. Concast provided a Precast frame totalling approximately 12,000 sqm. fronting the Arklow River while the majority of the single storey shopping accommodation was constructed to the rear utilising a steel frame. The Precast frame comprised dual frontages to the Arklow River. The primary frontage provides multi-storey apartments above ground floor retail, with the secondary frontage incorporating office accommodation above ground floor retail. The residential frame, totalling seven floors including mezzanine, was constructed utilising a Precast cross wall structure at first floor level and above. As the ground floor retail comprised a large open plan floor plate with a double height ceiling, the overhead residential structural loading was transferred from the cross walls to a braced column and beam frame below. The four storey office frame was constructed utilising Precast columns and beams braced by shear walls. Double height Precast circular columns provide an attractive architectural feature at the entrance to the retail concourse.
