BAM were instructed by developer JCD to construct City Gate Park comprising three separate office buildings totalling 29,000 sqm of office accommodation and 600 car spaces in a double basement. BAM choose to design the four and five storey buildings in structural steel with Precast access cores over a Precast double basement multi-storey car park. Concast provided a Precast frame solution for a 20,000 sqm double basement car park which comprised a substantial transfer slab at grade incorporating 50T beams; three 6/7 storey lift shafts, each shaft comprising three adjoining lift carriages which were cast as one piece weighing 37T; twelve 4/5 storey stairwells; and retaining walls. The erection programme of just 16 weeks required Concast to utilise three crews and three Concast fleet cranes. Steel plates and reinforcement continuity strip were cast into the Precast units during manufacture to allow for structural connection with the steel frame. We have a strong relationship with BAM having completed numerous projects together including Horgan’s Quay Cork, Dairygold Mallow Cork and Brewery Student Quarter Cork.
