This award winning project (Irish Building and Design Awards – Engineering Project of the Year) comprised the replacement of the existing signal junction at Newlands Cross with a grade separated junction carrying the N7 over Belgard Road via a new flyover. The flyover comprises a two-span bridge structure with three traffic lanes in each direction incorporating extensive approach embankments on the east and west sides of the junction. The project is part of a public-private partnership operated by main contractor BAM who instructed Concast to provide 1.3 km of parapet units including 337 separate N2 parapet units and 96 H4A parapet units, many of which included light-fitting blisters. The N7 is Ireland’s second busiest road with over 90,000 vehicles passing every day.
